How to get Involved…
HOW DO I JOIN?
Becoming a member of Stab in the Dark Theatre Company is easy as pie - just drop us an email with the following information: FULL NAME, PHONE NUMBER, PREFERRED EMAIL ADDRESS and CAPACITY IN WHICH YOU'D LIKE TO JOIN (e.g.. Directing, acting, lights, wardrobe etc.)
Then - hey presto! - you're a member of SITD and will receive all the information you could possibly need to welcome you into our Band of Merry Lunatics.
WHAT NEXT?
The next bit's up to you. Depending on when you join, there are a few different options…
1. BAPTISM OF FIRE (as it were): not half as painful or scary as it sounds (we hope). This option is perfect for those of you keen beans that are raring to jump on stage or head behind scenes immediately. If we happen to be auditioning for a show when you join then grab your jazz shoes (really not necessary, but I like the phrase) and hurry on down to whichever hall/pub/farmyard we happen to be auditioning at. Throw yourself in head first and embrace the crazy! Even if you're looking to avoid treading the boards and just want to sew as many bits of costume as possible, then come along to our auditions to sign yourself up for 'backstage crew' (we promise we won't make you audition).
2. CURIOUS YET CAUTIOUS: If you join during the rehearsal process for a show and it's too late to audition, then check out our blog (and your emails) to get the dates, times and venues for our weekly workshop sessions. You'll meet the company and get to know everyone involved in the current project as well as experiencing a little of how we like to work at SITD (did I say 'work'? I meant 'drink tea'). These are really relaxed, informal sessions and you can come and go as you please.
3. KEEN BUT COMMITTED: If you're committed to another show, a different group, a job or a family then you can still get involved! We're always looking for front of house volunteers and this is the perfect way to be included in a production without the long-term commitment. This may sound like fairly dull stuff (taking tickets, selling ice-cream etc.) but we like to include our audience in the performance as much as possible, so our front of house team is essential. For Blackadder II our FOH team were dressed (and acted) like common peasants and alehouse wenches; and for Going-Going our FOH team was decked out as 1960s cabin attendants complete will trolleys and peanuts. So we'll put your acting skills to the test even while pouring cups of tea.
There are plenty of options when it comes to joining SITD, so drop us an email and get signed up! There's no long-term commitment, contracts or tests - just a Band of Merry Lunatics expressing themselves in an overtly dramatic way. If nothing else, it's a right laugh!
